One of our Support Workers, tells us what it’s like to be a support worker:
"As a Support Worker at Carers Support (Bexley), I enjoy meeting people in different situations and providing consistent, weekly support, which can be long term, if needed. My aim is to get to know the person I am working with and establish how best I can support, within my role. I feel connection is important and to help me build connections with the people I support, I may take different activities to encourage this, especially if there is a diagnosis of dementia. These activities include crosswords, singing, creative art and puzzles. Within my role, I can also go out with clients and assist with appointments. Encouraging emotional wellbeing for the people I support is key through valuing and active listening.”
